She gained a lot of weight after giving birth to now 18-month old daughter Honor, but she has lost most of it. Now she aims to shed the last few pounds by using The Zone Diet.

The Zone Diet is popular among celebrities because the exact foods you need is delivered right to your doorstep. It involves maintaining a 40-30-30 portion of carbs, proteins, and fats in the diet.

Alba is already seeing results, according to close pals of the star. She has also been training regularly with her personal trainer.

Honor Alba has been doing some dieting of her own. Jessica has avoided giving Honor liquid sugars such as sodas and juice. “She has, like, three-quarters celery or cucumber juice with a little bit of apple juice – that’s the most sugar she’s ever had,” Alba says.

There are a lot of sceptics out there. We look at our favourite celebrities and their diet endorsements with the fine print at the bottom of the screen stating “results not typical”.

Why would I bother going on some restrictive diet if I there was no guarantee that I would have the same results as the celebrity? Not only would I be harming my body through starvation mode, I wouldn’t look like the celebrity image of myself in my mind! The question is, are any seemingly healthy celebrity diets really healthy? I have found a few options which can be healthy and promote long term weight loss – and who, celebrity or not, doesn’t want that?!

A recent weight loss trend that has taken over the airwaves is the Low Carb Diet. There are so many guises that Low Carb Diets take, although two of the most well known are the Atkins and Zone diets.

I remember the early 1990’s when I went on my first low carb diet. I had very little knowledge about how to lower my carbohydrate intake, so I just cut all carbohydrates other than vegetables and a minute quota of fruit from my diet. I was also vegetarian at the time, because I wasn’t being smart in replacing my nutrients, I wasn’t eating enough protein. Fat, in my mind, was my nemesis! So I cut that out too.
From this experience, I learned that yes, I lost weight on a virtually no carb diet, but I also lost muscle mass and chunks of my hair! Not a very sexy look at all! My body remained flabby despite the numbers on the scale going down. Disheartened and hungry, this low carb diet was neither well thought out nor practical long term.

I looked to the svelte celebrities I admired so much: people like Jennifer Aniston and Cindy Crawford, who are athletic and strong, a look I found beautiful. These celebrities followed the healthy low carb option, the Zone. This plan teaches you how to balance your carbohydrates, proteins and fats and there is no forbidden “fruit” or carbohydrate deprivation on this plan. You never feel like you’re on a diet or hungry when in the Zone as it is basic, healthy, balanced eating. Moreover, it’s sustainable!

I have since developed my own version of this macronutrient breakdown that works for my lifestyle and my taste buds. I am feeding my body all the vitamins and nutrients it needs, and I have a thick mane of hair on my head once again! I also have a stronger physique which can sustain the rigourous exercise regime I put my body through daily. Finally a healthy celebrity diet that is actually healthy and definitely worth trying and sticking to!
