R&B superstar and former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland was recently spotted on the beach with a hot rockin’ body that is proof of her discipline in weight loss and keeping fit. But when asked what she has done, she simply stated that she didn’t even try to lose weight, and just ended up cutting the sugar from her diet.

She said she read a book from author Gillian McKeith, titled “You Are What You Eat”, which promises a “slimmer, healthier, and happier you”, to help her with her weight loss routine.

The book educates readers about the benefits that can be attained just by simply adjusting the diet, which includes preventing 1/3 of possible cancers, decreasing the tendency to have depression and mood swings, increasing the immune system to protect one’s self from colds, flu, and other sicknesses.

It also contains tips on what to reduce, cut out, and avoid. These include coffee, red meats, dairy goods, foods that have been fried, alcohol, and sugar. It is these tips that Kelly Rowland has followed, although she admits that for the most part, it’s only the sugar that she has cut out completely. And after just a few months, she has lost 10 pounds just from removing sugar from her diet.

Although, it is safe to assume that she is also living a more active lifestyle than most average people. Being part of Destiny’s Child, who is known equally for their dancing and singing, required Kelly to be very fit in order to execute the intricate dance moves of their songs. And because she is now a R&B star in her own right, dancing is probably still in her list of very frequent activities.

Nevertheless, Kelly Rowland’s weight loss routine is something that can be followed by anyone, simply by starting with reducing sugar in the diet.

Former Beverly Hills 90210 star Jennie Garth has dealt with a lot of emotions over the past two years. Her father’s death along with her daughter’s sickness pushed her to the brink of despair. Garth leaned on eating-binges to cope with the stress, but now she is ready to leave it all behind her. She notes that the Trim Fit Cleanse system has been one of her key weight loss secrets.

The Trim Fit Cleanse system is done by having just one meal on a specified cleansing day. This sounds a bit difficult, but it is nothing compared to the full-body cleanse wherein participants must fast for seven straight days. Garth herself is on the normal cleanse, while husband Peter Facinelli is more adventurous in trying out the full-body cleanse. One side benefit of the program is that the two are able to strengthen their bond by doing the cleansing process together.

To complete the cleansing process, users ingest two Trim Fit capsules before a meal two times a day. These capsules contain fibers that promote feelings of fullness that helps the user avoid overeating.

In addition to the cleansing, Garth makes it a point to get regular exercise and eat a balanced diet. Check out a sample meal plan that she uses:

Breakfast: Honey Nut Cheerios (with soy milk), and orange juice

Lunch: Chicken breast with sautéed spinach

Dinner: Grilled salmon with potatoes, and a salad

Garth supplements the meals with a Berry Almond Luna Bar or a low-fat choco popsicle. These low-fat snacks give her an energy boost just when she needs it. The secrets to her weight loss is now as clear as day.

A study conducted by researchers at the Oregon National Primate Research Center has uncovered startling new secrets on the effectiveness of calorie cutting in weight loss. A group of monkeys were fed a high-fat diet in a span of several years before switching back to a regular monkey-sized diet. The results showed some weight loss in the monkeys, but the less than stellar amount of weight loss raises serious issues concerning the effectiveness of low-calorie diets.

Another change that was observed in the monkeys was their energy levels. After switching to the lower-calorie diet, the monkeys were observed to have lower activity levels signalling a lack of energy. The doctors believe that the reduced calorie intake caused this decrease. The same effect is likely to be observed in humans under the same conditions. This means that cutting calories might possibly lead to a decrease in the motivation to exercise.

A different test group of monkeys performed some moderate exercises and were observed to have a lost a significantly higher amount of weight compared to monkeys that did not exercise. This is by no means a surprise, but the results of the study shows just how important a combination of diet and exercise is in losing weight.

One way to increase motivation and energy levels (or atleast improve the perception) is by engaging yourself physically. Perform a simple physical activity such as circling your arms a few times. This can help set you in the right frame of mind for exercising.

To sum it up, cutting calories is the key to weight loss. The most effective way to do this is by decreasing calories intake by eating smarter and by increasing calories burned by exercising regularly. There are no secrets being bandied about here, but it can certainly help as a gentle reminder to eat better and exercise more!
